	I am a 76 year old female and I have been on thyroid medication for 20 years. I was on Synthroid but found out the Levoxyl was cheaper and asked my doctor if I could change. He changed me to Levoxyl and I did just fine and saved money. WARNING: Thyroid Hormones, including Levoxyl^®, either alone or together with other therapeutic agents, should not be used for the treatment of obesity or for weight loss. In patients with a normal functioning thyroid gland, doses within the range of daily hormonal requirements are ineffective for weight reduction. Larger doses may provide serious or even life-threatening manifestations of toxicity, particularly when given in association with sympathomimetic based weight loss drugs.

Levoxyl^® is indicated for thyroid hormone replacement or supplemental therapy for hypothyroidism. Levoxyl^® is contraindicated in patients with untreated thyrotoxicosis, acute myocardial infarction, uncorrected adrenal insufficiency, or hypersensitivity to any of its inactive ingredients.

Adverse reactions are primarily those of hyperthyroidism due to therapeutic overdose. Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease.
